Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about structural correction at Optimus Spine & Posture.

Why do you take X-rays?

X-rays allow us to see the structural alignment of your spine objectively. We measure angles, translations, and disc spacing to determine exactly where structural shifts have occurred. Without X-rays, we would be guessing. With them, we can create a precise correction plan and measure your progress over time.

What is structural correction?

Structural correction is a focused approach to chiropractic care that identifies measurable structural shifts in your spine and develops a targeted plan to address them. Using objective measurements (X-rays, posture analysis, stress films), we create a personalized plan designed to restore your spine toward its normal structural position.

How is this different from traditional chiropractic?

Traditional chiropractic typically focuses on symptom relief — reducing pain, improving mobility, and providing temporary comfort. Structural correction goes further by identifying measurable structural shifts and working to correct them over time. We take objective measurements before, during, and after care so you can see measurable change — similar to how an orthodontist straightens teeth over time.

Can you help spondylolisthesis?

Yes. Dr. Bury has specific training and equipment (including the Robotic Table) designed to address spondylolisthesis cases. We use stress films to measure instability and create a targeted rehabilitation protocol. Our approach monitors vertebral slippage through regular imaging and works toward structural improvement. Results vary by case, and a structural evaluation is required to determine candidacy.

What is Anterior Head Syndrome?

Anterior Head Syndrome occurs when the head shifts forward relative to the shoulders. Research suggests that forward head posture significantly increases the effective load on the cervical spine. This structural shift has been associated with neck pain, headaches, and accelerated disc degeneration. We measure this objectively and address it through structural rehabilitation.

How long does correction take?

Correction timelines depend on examination findings, diagnosis, severity, individual goals, response to care, and adherence to the recommended plan. Every patient is different, and we do not make blanket promises about timelines. We reassess regularly using objective measurements so you can track your structural progress over time.

Do you accept insurance?

We are a direct-pay structural correction office. While we do not bill insurance directly, we can provide you with the necessary documentation (superbills) to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Many patients find that the investment in structural correction reduces their long-term healthcare costs significantly.

What conditions do you treat?

Our approach extends beyond temporary symptom management. We identify measurable structural factors that may contribute to a patient's condition. Patients commonly present with sciatica, migraines, neck pain, back pain, scoliosis, spondylolisthesis, disc injuries, stenosis, neuropathy, and whiplash injuries. By addressing measurable structural shifts, many patients experience improvement. Individual results vary based on diagnosis, severity, and adherence to care.

What should I expect on my first visit?

Your visit begins with a complimentary structural consultation — a conversation with Dr. Bury about your history, your goals, and whether this approach may be appropriate for you. There is no obligation to go further. If you choose to proceed with the clinical evaluation, that is a separate paid service and may include orthopedic and neurological examination, an objective posture analysis measured in millimeters, and structural X-rays when clinically indicated. When appropriate, the consultation and evaluation can take place during the same visit. We then schedule a separate findings review where we explain what we found and discuss recommendations.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed. You can schedule a structural consultation directly. We welcome patients who are seeking a different approach to their spinal health — whether they have tried other treatments before or are looking for objective, measurable care from the start.
