What to Expect
Our process is thorough and objective. We don't guess with your health.
Consultation, Then Examination
- Consultation (complimentary): A conversation with Dr. Bury about your history, your goals, and whether this approach may be appropriate for you. No obligation to go further.
- Comprehensive Structural Examination (separate, paid): If you choose to proceed, orthopedic, neurological and functional testing, with posture measured against normal reference values. The fee is explained before it is scheduled.
- X-rays: Taken only when clinically warranted, and explained and priced before they are taken. Not every patient needs imaging.
The initial structural consultation is complimentary and carries no obligation. It does not include the comprehensive examination, diagnostic imaging or treatment, which are paid services, and imaging is performed only when it is clinically warranted. We are primarily a direct-pay practice and accept HSA and FSA payments. Fees and the care we recommend are explained before you agree to anything. See what to expect on your first visit.
The Patient Recommendation Conference
This is the visit where your examination findings, our recommendations, and the proposed plan are reviewed with you.
- Review of Findings: Dr. Bury will walk you through your X-rays and measurements.
- The Plan: A customized structural correction plan tailored to your spine.
- Your decision: If care is recommended and you choose to proceed, the first visit of your plan is scheduled. Nothing is booked beyond the conference until you decide.
Payment and Insurance
We would rather you know exactly how this works before you book than find out afterwards.
What is complimentary, and what is not
Your initial structural consultation is complimentary. It is a conversation about what you are experiencing and whether this approach may be appropriate for you. It is separate from, and does not include, the comprehensive examination, diagnostic imaging or treatment.
If we agree that a comprehensive examination is the right next step, that examination, any diagnostic imaging and any treatment are paid services. Imaging is performed and charged only when it is clinically warranted. Not every patient needs it.
- Complimentary Structural Consultation: no charge.
- Comprehensive New Patient Structural Examination: $150.
- X-rays: $100 additional, only when clinically warranted and explained before they are taken.
- These are separate services, not a package. The examination is for evaluation; any treatment is discussed, priced and consented to separately.
Optimus Spine & Posture is primarily a direct-pay practice. We can provide an itemized superbill upon request for patients who wish to submit their expenses to their insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on the patient’s individual insurance plan, benefits, and coverage.
We also accept HSA and FSA payments. We do not submit insurance claims on your behalf, and Medicare has specific coverage and billing limitations, so please ask about your own situation rather than assuming a service is covered.
Fees and the care we recommend are explained to you before you agree to any paid service. You will not be asked to commit to anything at the consultation.
